Situated in the Charente region of south-western France, we typically have long summers and short winters with many sunny days. Close to the cottage are the lovely towns of Bassac, Chateauneuf, Jarnac and Cognac which are on the Charente river. There are some wonderful restaurants to explore, boat trips and tours around the Cognac vineyards and producers like Hennessy in Cognac. Also, Cognac has many festivals through the year including the Blues Rock Fesival in July. The historic town of Angouleme is approx twenty minutes drive which has many lovely restaurants and a market in the old town, outdoor cafes and waterparks, etc. The town holds two annual festivals - the cartoon books in January and race around the ramparts in September. Further away are the cities of Bordeaux, Poitiers, Saintes and Limoges and the sea is approximately one hour's drive at Royan.

The sunny Charente

Lavender cottage is a lovely 3-bed gite in the heart of the Cognac vineyards yet very accessible and close to Angouleme, Cognac and Jarnac. Set in a small village, we have 2 restaurants within walking distance and another village with shops, boulangerie, pharmacy, butchers a short walk away.
