Wine and Cognac tasting

As we are in the middle of the Cognac vineyards, there is no shortage of wine or Cognac tasting in the area! Just across the road we have Le Domaine de Grand Bourras who make a lovely white wine in their chateau. They are very happy to give tours with some notice. There are also numerous other producers of vin de pays Charentais, both red and white wines and you can visit them or taste their wines in the market in Jarnac or in the local restaurants and wine bars.

A short drive away is the Courvoisier company in Jarnac. You can tour the lovely historic building on the river and taste the lovely stuff after the tour. There are also many famous Cognac producers in the town of Cognac itself (15 mins drive), including Hennessy, Camus, Remy Martin, Martell to name a few! Many of them also have tours of their warehouses and they show you the process of making cognac. Hennessy has an excellent tour which includes a boat trip on the river, the story of how they make the cognac and of course a tasting at the end!
